This piece became talismanic when I bought the American Nonesuch issue. But the NY Times critic trashed it. Stockhausen wrote a response letter 'lauding' the putdown because, he said, the mastering of the U.S pressing was so atrocious. It took a while to fine the Wergo LP but I did. And I understood what had bothered the composer. The new intro to the piece that Stockhausen wrote years later is magisterial. But I retain a soft spot for the original. Thank you for posting so much of Stockhausen's music. Recently, I played a later work of his for friends and they thought I was insane for making them listen to it. The ears we had in the 1960s must not disappear. But I fear musical devolution is taking a towering toll. Please post more of this master. And thanks for the generous amount of his music that you have made available.
